Station Name: HESKETH PARK

A Class 5MT (Black 5) number 45055 arrives at Hesketh Park with the daily weekday coal train trip working from Southport in July 1966. The view is looking southwest from the Henley Drive footbridge and shows the station, goods yard and signal box. At this time Hesketh Park was the northernmost limit of the former WLR. The line continued only a short distance beyond the footbridge. As can be seen the former up line had been completely lifted to the point that the locomotive had reached. The train has fully loaded wagons. To the right beyond the signal box can be seen empty wagons from a previous day which would be returned to Southport by 45055.
