Station Name: HOPPERTON

[Source: Alan Young]

Hopperton station is seen from a westbound train on 11 August 1969. The main building, now a private house, is on the right beyond the level crossing. It is hard to believe that only seven years earlier this was still the point where the A1 London–Edinburgh road crossed the line; in 1962 it was diverted to cross the line on flyover, behind the camera. The up platform ramp used to be on the extreme right of the photograph, and the remains of a further, low platform are beyond the crossing
in front of the building.
