Station Name: KILLINGWORTH

Weetslade Colliery exchange sidings were located a short distance north-west of Killingworth station, parallel to the East Coast main line. On 27 May 1959 Q6 No.63390 is in charge of a rake of coal trucks. This view is looking north-west and the East Coast main line is to the right, close to the telegraph pole. The Raven-designed 0-8-0 loco was built in August 1918 at the NER’s Darlington works and originally carried the number 2233. On 31 August 1963 it was withdrawn from 54B, Tyne Dock shed, and was cut up at British Railways’ Darlington works, North Road, the following December.
