The site of Liverpool Central looking south east in March 2009. Today shops occupy the site of the station's once imposing entrance. However there is still a railway station at this location. Liverpool Central reopened in 1977 as part of the Merseyrail network. Today all of the platforms are below ground. Liverpool Central station is the busiest on the Merseyrail network.
