Station Name: LIVERPOOL CENTRAL HIGH LEVEL

[Source: Paul Wright]

View from the south end of Liverpool Central station's platforms 1 and 2 looking south into the tunnels that led up to Brunswick in August 1950. Liverpool Central was the last mainline terminus station to be built in Liverpool and the CLC had to make do with a very cramped site. Three lines led up to Brunswick as can be seen in the picture. The line to the right was the arrival line for all trains. The line to the left was used by departing services. The centre line was used by light engines and for moving empty stock. The main facilities for servicing locomotives were at Brunswick Shed but an engine siding and watering facilities were also provided at the station. A J10 loco can be seen in the siding to the left of the picture.
