Station Name: LIVERPOOL CENTRAL HIGH LEVEL

[Source: Paul Wright]

Looking south along platform 4 at Liverpool Central station in April 1969. At the far end can be seen the colour light signals that were first introduced in 1934. To the right, a DMU waits to depart for Gateacre. A railwayman carries the tail lamp which would have been fitted to the rear of the DMU. Although the station looks derelict, efforts had been made to keep the active platforms, 3 and 4, in a clean and tidy condition.
