In August 1969 a two car Derby Built class 108 DMU stands at platform 4 at Liverpool Central station waiting to depart for Gateacre. Station staff had gone to great efforts to ensure that the platform was in a clean and tidy condition in what had become by that date an increasingly dilapidated station. Only platform 4 and platform 3, seen to the right, still had track in situ at this time.
