Station Name: LIVERPOOL CENTRAL HIGH LEVEL

[Source: Paul Wright]

Looking north along platform 1 at Liverpool Central station in 1970. Platforms 1 and 2 had become a car park by this time. To the far right can be seen a two coach Derby built class 108 DMU that would have been operating a Gateacre service. In 1970 only Gateacre trains ran from the high level platforms. Below the feet of the photographer would have been the low level platforms that served trains that ran under the River Mersey to the Wirral.
