Station Name: LIVERPOOL EXCHANGE

[Source: Paul Wright]

Liverpool Exchange Number 2 signal box in 1977 shows the approach lines coming into the station from the north. By this date the track layout had been severely rationalised as the station would
close at the end of April 1977. The departing train is formed of 1936 LMS class 502 electric
units that ran between Liverpool, Southport and Ormskirk. As a six-car formation it
is probably a Southport service.
