Between the Liverpool Exchange station hotel and the trainshed there was a taxi circulating area which can be seen to good effect in this view taken in April 1977. The archway to the right of the picture led to the station concourse which was inside the trainshed. The taxi in the foreground is about to turn to the left where it will pass under the hotel and out onto Tithebarn Street. Even though the station would close within a few weeks shops are still open for business. Liverpool Exchange station had been at one time the city's busiest commuter station being located in the heart of the city's business district'
