A general view of Longbenton station in June 1969, looking east from the up platform. The enclosed waiting facilities on the up platform and office facilities on the down platform can be seen; both were added in the BR era. The electric third rails had been removed by this time. The LNER lamp standards are still in place, but would be removed two years later.
