bridge_old6.jpg) A very rare visitor to the WLR by this date (5 September 1964) is one of the last Fowler 4MT 2-6-4 tanks, No. 42369, seen here passing Longton Bridge's signal box with the 12.18pm Saturday-only Southport - Preston. Following withdrawal of all freight facilities in April 1964, the box was normally 'switched-out' at weekends, as was the case on this date.
