[Source: Nick Catford]

30584 prepares to run round its train after arrival at Lyme Regis station in August 1960. The room layout has changed; the parcels office and cloak room were originally at the south end of the building. Built in 1885 by Dubs & Co and entering LSWR service as 520 in the December, is an Adams-designed, Radial tank. Retained for use on the Lyme Regis branch, one of a class of 72 locos of which, only three passed into BR service in 1948, and lasted until withdrawal from 72A, Exmouth Junction shed in January, 1961 and broken up at Eastleigh Works in December of that year. There is one of the locos preserved and it is normally found at the Bluebell Railway.
