Deltic locomotive number 55 022 'Royal Scots Grey' on the 'York Flyer' railtour passes the Manchester Exchange footbridge en route to York on 2 June 2012. 55 022 entered service with British Railways in February 1961 originally being allocated to Haymarket Shed (64B). It was withdrawn from service on 3 January 1982 and sold to the Deltic 9000 fund. In 2012 the engine was based at Bury and was the only Deltic registered to operate on the main line. At the controls was Warrington-based DBS driver John Wilson.
