Disused Stations: Newcastle New Bridge Street

Looking east towards Manors East from the nearby multi-storey car park in 1972. The glazed verandah, diagonal to the picture (lower left) is at the heads of Manors North bay platforms 3 to 5; after the right-angle turn it provides cover for Manors East platform 6. In the apex of this right-angle the verandah over bay platforms 4 and 5 can be seen. The lengthy island platform without cover is Manors East platforms 7 and 8, on which the poles which carried the Quayside Branch catenary system are still in place. In the background the former granary is being demolished.
