Melrose station looking east from the up platform early 20th century. An Edinburgh Waverley train stands in the up platform. The goods yard can be seen to the rear. 329 is a Z416 class, 0-4-2 tender loco, one of 18 locos originally built for the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway between 1859 and 1864. It was acquired by the NBR in 1865.
