Station Name: MIDDLETON-IN-TEESDALEMiddleton-in-Teesdale station running-in board in May 1968. There is some obvious deterioration in the 3½ years since closure to passengers; it is a shame that the new owner did not keep
and restore the board. Photo by Nick Catford Middleton-in-Teesdale station looking north-west towards the buffers in May 1968. Apart from some damage to the platform edge, which probably occurred during track lifting, the station remains largely unchanged since closure. The station garden in front of the goods shed seems to be thriving!
Photo by Nick Catford By August 1976 the station site had been purchased by Liz and Ralph Dunn who have opened the Daleview Caravan Park on the site. Apart from partial infilling of the trackbed to create a slope from the platform edge little else has changed in this view. The goods yard had been cleared of all buildings by this time.

This door would have opened into the ladies’ first class toilet! A new porch has appeared on the end gable; this was the entrance to the 1888 booking office. It was replaced by the entrance just visible on the far right.

When the new station was built in 1888/89 a part of the earlier building was retained as the stationmaster's office. It was later incorporated into the new booking office, part of which can just be made out on the far right.
