Looking east from the site of Monsal Dale Station in June 1989. The line crossed the River Wye at this point. The viaduct on which the photographer is standing was built in 1863. Next to it shown on the left of the picture is a parallel viaduct that was brought into use on the 20th of August 1905. It was built to allow extra lines to be laid at Millers Dale. The station was enlarged at the same time.
