Station Name: MINORIES
The Midland Railway's City Goods Depot was sited on the south side of the line at the east end of Minories Station. The depot opened on 1st October 1862 and closed on 1st July 1949. Although the depot has been demolished this hydraulic accumulator tower survives. This building supplied the hydraulic power for the lifts within the depot and is one of several surviving alongside the London & Blackwall line. Lettering can still be clearly seen on the side of the building, that below the windows says 'City Goods Station and Bonded Stores'. The very faded lettering above the windows says 'London Midland & Scottish Railway' on two lines.
