Station Name: MORPETH (East Coast main line)

Morpeth station, looking north-east from the down platform on 16 September 1962. A DMU is entering the up platform, whilst another is parked in the bay behind it. Roofing of a generous size shelters both platforms, although this would be removed from the down island platform within ten years. The roofing dates from the 1880s, and incorporates the Star of David, as seen also at Alnmouth, Heaton and Elswick stations in Northumberland. Coal trucks occupy the goods sidings.
