The exterior of the fine 1847 building at Morpeth station. The masonry has recently been cleaned, as seen in this view from August 2001. The rock-faced sandstone building has ashlar quoins and is in a Gothic ‘Tudor/Jacobean’ style, as were many of the other station buildings at the Newcastle & Berwick East Coast main line stations. The architect was Benjamin Green who, with his father, designed Newcastle’s Theatre Royal and Grey’s Monument. This building is Grade II listed.
