longton4.jpg) Looking east from a position that would have been in front of the booking office at New Longton & Hutton station in July 2011. The building behind the hedge on the far side of the road was the former WLR crossing keeper's cottage which pre-dated, and outlived, the station. The bungalows to the right in the middle distance stand on the trackbed of the line. The level crossing that had been located to the east of the station was located to the right of the photographer.
