Station Name: NEWSHAM

In April 1966, over a year since closure to passengers, Newsham station is unaltered, save for the removal of its nameboards. This view, looking south-east from the up ‘main line’ platform shows the single-storey platform buildings clearly. After regular passenger services were withdrawn the station was used for excursions, for example in July 1967 when pupils from Newlands and Princess Louise secondary schools were taken to Windermere.
