35030 emerging from Weekday Cross tunnel with the LCGB Great Central Railtour, the last daytime train to London over the Great Central main line on 3 September 1966. After freights ceased running through the site of Victoria, a single line remained from Sneinton Junction into the tunnel, then out along the Great Central route so trains could still serve the ordnance disposal depot at Ruddington and the gypsum site at Hotchley Hill, East Leake. By the mid-70s, the connection had been put in at Loughborough with the Midland Main Line, so those trains could run from the south, and the tracks north of Ruddington were lifted.
