The Melton Mowbray line is to the left and the MR carriage sheds (demolished by this time) were to the right behind the photographer. The low level station is seen in the distance on the left. A pair of 2Ps is seen: that on the right is 40452, an ageing Midland Railway loco built in May 1894 at Derby works. It had a long life being finally withdrawn from Leicester Midland shed in January 1961.
