A train from London on the Melton Mowbray line arrives at Nottingham London Road signal box c1951, before proceeding into Nottingham Midland station. 40900 is a Fowler compound built for the LMS by the Vulcan Foundry in April 1927. Having moved from Chester it was allocated to Nottingham shed at this time and was withdrawn from there in April 1956 and cut up at Derby works a month later.
