Ivatt 4MT 43040 is seen passing the Low Level station with a Nottingham Midland to Lincoln passenger service c1952. This 2-6-0 had only had a few years service when this picture was taken. It was built for BR at Horwich works in July 1949. It remained in service until November 1966 when it was withdrawn from North Blyth shed to be cut up at Clayton & Davie, Dunston-on-Tyne in March 1967.
