An ex-LNER 0-6-2T No.69464 waits in the down platform at Ovenden station with a Halifax train in the early 1950s. This Ivatt-designed N1 was built for the GNR and Doncaster works in 1912. It survived until August 1955 when it was withdrawn from Bradford Hammerton Street shed to be cut up at Doncaster works in August 1956.

Ovenden station looking south from the up platform circa late 1950s, a few years after closure to passengers. Apart from the demolition of the waiting shelter the station is complete, although now looking somewhat run down. The line remained in use until June 1960.

Ovenden Station in January 1965. By this date the timber down platform had been largely demolished apart from a short section in front of the station building. A short section of the concrete up platform survives at this time and is seen here supporting a grounded goods van. In 1964 the station site was purchased by W H Hooper (Metals) Ltd as a base for their scrap metal business.

The main station building at Ovenden in November 2004. By this date WH Hooper had gone (to Wakefield) but the scrap business carries on albeit on a much smaller scale. The station building is now looking very run down and in need of repair.
