Penshaw second station looking north along the up face of the island platform in October 1947. The running-out nameboard board is of a different style to that fixed to its back, as seen in a photograph taken on the same day. Beyond the up passenger track are goods lines and sidings, and a coal train is pausing on its northbound journey.
