2nd site & Dyserth branch

Looking west towards the west end of Prestatyn station in November 2010. The platform to the right once served the Dyserth Branch and westbound slow line trains. Since the 1980s it has been without track. The Dyserth Branch was in the centre of the picture in the area covered in trees. When Dyserth services first began there was only a track level platform at the far end of the westbound platform but later trains ran into the bay platform seen here. Dyserth trains had to depart westwards to a point just beyond a signalbox. They then had to reverse to the east to follow the line to Dyserth as its junction with the main line faced to the west. The course of the Dyserth branch can be seen as the hedge line behind the yellow van.
