Preston WLR station seen from Fishergate Hill in June 1946. The station building was being used by Silcock’s, a provender merchant. Silcock’s received supplies by rail directly to the premises. The centre part of the building, over which the Silcock’s sign can be seen, was originally the booking hall. The upper floors on the left left had been the accommodation for a stationmaster.
