King Edward 1 in the 'up' yard awaiting restoration which was undertaken at Quainton. It was sold for scrap to Barry yard in 1962. It remained there for 11 years and was eventually purchased by the 6024 Preservation Society. Restoration took place over 16 years. It was steamed for the first time for a preservation run in October 1989. Since then it has operated over the national system and
is based at Tyseley. (July 1974)
