Two northbound trains approaching Ripon station c 1950s. The loco on the left (60083) is a Gresley A3 pacific named Sir Hugo. Built by the North British works in 1924 and withdrawn on 18.5.1964, being cut up in August of the same year at Hughes Bolckows of North Blyth. Shed allocation 1948 till 1962 was Heaton being transferred to Gateshead until withdrawal. On the right (65726) is a J25 class, built in 1902 to a Wilson Wordsell design. It's last shed was Gateshead 52A in 1962.
