ROWSLEY 2nd LOCOMOTIVE DEPOT

[Source: Glynn Waite (Rowsley Association)]

This view of the main Up Sidings buildings, taken in the summer of 1966, would not have been possible when the Sidings were open. To the right of the water tank is the rather quaint former Control Office, which later became the Yard Master’s Office. The higher wooden one on the right was the Depot Office. The staff who worked here moved to the YMO building when the Control Office closed. At this time the other buildings were variously used for stores, lockers and messing facilities. The goods lines are in the foreground. The main line ran behind the buildings – a signal post can be seen above the YMO. The two signals were Rowsley South Junction’s Down starter and Rowsley North Junction’s Down distant.
