Station Name: ROWSLEY 2nd SITE

Looking north towards Midland Cottages in October 2009. Station Master Thomas Pitt was shown as living there in the 1891 census, but this was a 'one off' all subsequent SMs lived in Derwent House, some distance away from this location.. The original line into Rowsley 1st station ran past the house to its left and passed under the A6. The house was built in the early 1850s during the period when the line terminated at Rowsley.
