Station Name: SCULCOATES

Wilmington Bridge. This bridge opened on 7.5.1907 to replace the original 1853 single line bridge. The bridge (and its predecessor) was originally called Sculcoates Bridge and was renamed at a later date (possibly when Wilmington replaced Sculcoates station in 1912). Although the controls are modern, some of the original NER equipment remains in the control cabin. The bridge has survived as it's construction stipulated the provision of a pedestrian walkway, it is manned by Hull City Council and swung open for river traffic at high tide when required.
