One of the BR(NE) tangerine vitreous enamel nameboards, with black-edged lettering in November 1972. The station signs on this route were noticeably discoloured by atmospheric pollution. The trucks in the background will be noted: a reminder that huge quantities of coal and coke were carried to supply the numerous heavy industries which lined the Middlesbrough – Redcar route.
