Looking south from the down platform at South Gosforth on 6 March 1964 the Royal Train is making its progress, taking Prince Philip to Monkwearmouth. The train was stabled overnight at West Gosforth, to the west of the car sheds. On this platform the furniture includes an LNER swan-neck lamp standard and an NER coiled serpent bench.
