South Shields Matro Gallery 2: March 2012 - 7 July 2019

Looking north towards the site of South Shields second station from South Shields Metro station in March 2012. The station site is used for engineering sidings. The access footpath is seen on the right with a new station entrance built after the demolition of the original station building in the mid-1990s.

A Yellow line train has arrived at the South Shields terminus in December 2015. Passengers walking towards the camera will leave by the north entrance along the footpath to Mile End Road. BR Class 994 Metrocar 4079 is seen with a service to St. James. Between 2011 and late 2015 the Metrocars have undergone a refurbishment and now have a black and yellow livery.
