6959 is seen working working a class 1 express passenger train on the down fast line at Southall in October 1961, This loco is a Hawksworth designed 4-6-0 modified Hall, 'Peatling Hall'. Built in March 1944 at Swindon works, this loco lasted until withdrawal from 81F, Oxford shed in December 1965; it was scrapped by Cashmores of Newport by the end of April 1966. Southall motive power depot is on the right with the extended goods shed on the left. The DMU is witness to the fact that the Paddington suburban trains were already worked by DMUs by this time.
