27.jpg) 7923 'Speke Hall' on shed at Southall in October 1961 and was one of the last 10 of the class to be built.. This loco entered service on 30 September 1950 at Swindon shed. Built at Swindon works by BR(WR) to Hawksworth's Modified Hall design it had a relatively short life of 14 years and 8 months when it was withdrawn from Cardiff East Dock in June 1965 and broken up four months later. Out of a class of 71, seven of these class 5 locos have been preserved.
