St Boswells shed in 1937. 9131 is a C15, 4-4-2 tank, built for the NBR by Yorkshire Engineering Co in June 1912. Original number 131, it was renumbered by the LNER in 1924 to 9231, again by the LNER in 1946 to 7458 and passing to BR's numbering 67458. Withdrawn on 31.3.1956 from 12B, Carlisle Canal shed, it was cut up shortly after at BR's Kilmarnock works. The loco is being prepared for duty, the driver oiling round as can be seen by the oil bottle on the running plate. The second loco is an ex-LNER J35, 0-6-0, built by the NBR at Cowlairs in December 1910 to a Reid design. Originally numbered 335, the LNER renumbered it to 9335 in 1924 and again to 4521 in 1946, with BR renumbering to 64521. It was withdrawn in April, 1959 and scrapped shortly after.
