Looking north at Stubbins station in October 1988. At this time the line was out of use the last train having run through the station in 1982. However work was already ongoing to re-open the line as part of the ELR. Interestingly the ELR extended the former northbound platform at its southern end so that it occupied the trackbed of the former Accrington line. The extension can be seen on the left of the picture. It is the section of platform without a paved edge stone on top.
