Swaffham station site was substantially developed by 1904 although the signal box that later dominated the level crossing is not shown; instead one is shown beside the station over-bridge. There are wagon turntables at the road end of the goods shed that would allow wagons to be manhandled around the shed yard. The signal box at the Thetford branch junction is shown: this junction was later worked from the ‘box beside the level crossing.
