Handsworth Junction signal box was a Great Western Railway type 7d design opened circa 1909 fitted with a 61 lever Great Western Railway 3-bar horizontal tappet frame, replacing a signal box dating from the early 1890s. The signal box was closed on 17th September 1972.

Tram 11 of the Midlands Metro departs from the tram stop which now stands on the site of the main lines and acts as a handy interchange station for passengers from Wolverhampton who wish to travel in the Kidderminster direction.
