Station Name: THORNEYWOOD

The north portal of Sneinton Tunnel in 1904. The telegraph cables ran through the tunnel and are seen coming out for the tunnel from where they ran up the adjacent telegraph pole to be carried alongside the line. Sneinton Tunnel was particularly shallow and the line here would have run in a cutting but the tunnel was required so as not to disturb the existing Nottingham Builders' Brick Company works which was partially on top of the line.
