Tweedbank station, looking west on 22 October 2015. The great length of the island platform can be appreciated, being designed to accommodate 12-car trains. Regular passenger trains are formed of two or four cars, but much longer charter / excursion trains are catered for. From the outset such trains have travelled to Tweedbank, but no run-round facilities have been installed, so loco-hauled trains require a locomotive at each end.  Part of the car park is seen on the far right.
