In the very early years of the twentieth century a group passengers sits patiently on the concourse of Tynemouth station. Ahead is the double staircase leading to the footbridge, and the space between them is festooned with a horticultural display, for which the station was justly renowned. Plants are also in hanging baskets and arranged on the concourse.
