The concourse at Tynemouth station looking south c1906. This appears to be a quiet moment when station staff can stand still, one of them leaning on a luggage trolley awaiting business. Ornamental plants, for which the station was famous, almost dominate the scene, including a cascading effect on the right between the footbridge staircases. The expanse of glazed platform roofing and elaborate ironwork can also be admired. Visitors to the station were fulsome in their praise of this station.
