The central section of Tynemouth station, a Grade II listed building, has now been fully restored. By filling in part of the two bays, the concourse has been opened up as a major events space and is used for markets, arts events, theatre and exhibitions. This view looking north in June 2012 shows the infilled south bay; the two platform edges are still clearly visible.
